CARSON CITY, Nevada…The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest has completed two campground renovation projects at Mt. Rose and Hope Valley Campgrounds. These campgrounds will open this summer for the public to enjoy. Hope Valley Campground, located off of Blue Lakes Road, in Hope Valley, California, it’s approximately 15 miles from Markleeville, CA, and has been fully renovated. Incredible views and great outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, and proximity to the meandering West Carson River, combined with campground improvements, make this campground a new hotspot in Alpine County. Improvements include new RV-friendly roads, single and double sites, and all new campsite furnishings, including campfire rings, bear boxes, picnic tables, BBQs, and prep tables. This campground is at an elevation of 7,200 feet, and adjacent to the West Fork of the Carson River. This is a great place to take the family for that “far away” trip that is only 40 minutes from South Lake Tahoe and about an hour from Carson City. Hope Valley will be open from June 15through September 10, 2012; the cost will be $16.00 for a single campsite, and $32.00 for a double. Mt. Rose Campground (Hwy 341, Reno, NV) is bigger and better than ever. In addition to all new campsite furnishings, including picnic tables, BBQs, prep tables, bear boxes, and fire rings, the campground now offers single, double, and triple sites. Walk-in tent sites and five new bathroom facilities have been added.
Located at the Mt. Rose Summit at an elevation nearly 9,000 feet, just 25 minutes from Reno and 10 minutes from Incline Village, this campground offers endless recreational opportunities and a “new staycation” for the whole family to enjoy. Easily accessible from the campground is the family friendly Tahoe Meadows Interpretive trail; for the more adventurous, try the Tahoe Rim Trail and the Mt. Rose Summit Trail. Lake Tahoe is nearby for water and beach activities and Reno is just a quick drive down the Mt. Rose Scenic Byway. The campground will be open from June 29through September 10, 2012; the campsite costs will be $17.00/single, $34.00/double, and $50.00/triple. Reservations can be made through the National Recreation Reservation Service, NRRS, by visiting www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.
