UNCE: Chefs for Kids Dinner and Auction

3/6/2012

The Chefs for Kids (CFK) Dinner and Auction is Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Paris Las Vegas. The evening honors Dave Courvoisier for his ongoing support of the program.

The gala evening begins at 6 p.m. with a reception and silent auction. Paula Francis, KLAS-TV anchor, is Mistress of Ceremonies. A gourmet dinner, prepared under the supervision of Chef Eric Piston, is served at 7:30 p.m. with Christian Kolberg conducting the live auction. The evening continues with dancing to the music of Harbor Lights.

The Chefs for Kids program is a joint venture of the American Culinary Federation Chefs of Las Vegas and University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. This program works to eliminate malnutrition and hunger through education and awareness. The nutrition education program is taught to high needs first and second grade students in Clark County. Often in a society where television and computers bring information to our doorstep, we assume that simple facts like knowing that a pear grows on a tree or that a balanced diet is essential to good health throughout a lifetime are well known by everyone. Surprisingly, many children lack the essential nutrition knowledge necessary to fight personal battles against poor eating habits. In addition to the educational program, the chefs provide monthly breakfasts and a healthy snack program to participating schools and Thanksgiving food boxes and holiday food gift cards to especially needy families in participating schools.

Tickets for the evening’s event are $175 per person. Tables of ten are $1,600. To purchase tickets or for more information about this black tie optional event, please email Sue Lednicky or call 702-257-5548.
