Battle Mountain, NV – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Mount Lewis Field Office is seeking public comments on the Environmental Assessment (EA) for a proposed Road Project for the Greystone Mine.
M-I LLC has submitted a Plan of Development to construct a temporary (ten year) 100 foot wide, 2,748 foot long access road within an existing roadbed that would be located 28 miles south-southeast of Battle Mountain, Nevada. The roadway would be covered with road material (chert) from the mine. Under this Plan, M-I LLC proposes to widen the current road and to re-route the crossing of the Mill Creek Road, for a total of 4.7 acres of new surface disturbance. At the end of the ten-year period, the road would be reclaimed back to the current route and dimensions. The road would be used year-round. The comment period begins May 20 and ends June 19. Written comments received during this 30-day period will be considered during the decision-making process. The EA may be viewed at: http://on.doi.gov/1nf4ukS or a printed copy can be picked up at the Battle Mountain District Office at 50 Bastian Road, Battle Mountain, NV. Questions and written comments should be mailed to Jon Kramer at the Battle Mountain Office or emailed to jkramer@blm.gov. Before including your address, phone number, e-mail address, or other personal identifying information in your comment, be advised, that your entire comment -- including your personal identifying information -- may be made publicly available at any time.
