Join park rangers at the Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort for a variety of Saturday events throughout the month of March. All programs are open to the general public. The Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort is located in downtown Las Vegas, at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and East Washington Avenue. March 1: Native American Crafts Learn how the Paiute Indians lived in Las Vegas while weaving a basket, making a mini bow and arrow or a beaded bracelet. WHEN: Saturday, March 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 8: Paper Boat Making Activity Build your own paper boat and race them down the creek. All ages welcome. WHEN: Saturday, March 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 22: Dutch Oven Cooking Competition Join us for the First Annual Dutch Oven Competition. Winners will be invited to the final statewide competition at Cathedral Gorge State Park in the fall. Call 702-486-3511 for details and for entry into the competition. WHEN: Saturday, March 22 starting at 8 a.m. with judging at 1:30 p.m. March 29: Build your own Dreamcatcher Learn how to keep bad dreams away by making your own dreamcatcher. Supplies will be provided by the fort and all ages are welcome. WHEN: Saturday, March 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
