WASHOE VALLEY,Nev.– Washoe Lake State Park is teaming up with the Nevada Department of Wildlife to host a kid’s carp fishing derby. Prizes will be awarded for the largest carp in different age categories. Participants are requested to provide their own fishing tackle. A limited number of rods will be available. A fishing license is required for those 12 years of age or older. Registration is required and limited to 25 participants by calling 775-688-1559.
WHAT: Kids Carp FishingDerby WHEN: Saturday, July 14 from 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. WHERE: Participants will meet at Little Washoe Lake. LittleWashoeLake is 14 miles south ofReno and 8 miles north ofCarson City. Travel on U.S. 395 and exit where 395 meets the northern most end of East Lake Blvd. WHO: The event is open to the public, but derby registration is limited to 25 participants. COST: There is no charge for the derby, but there is a $ 7.00 per vehicle entry fee.Nevada residents receive a $ 2.00 discount.
