Join park rangers at the Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort for Saturday events through the month of June. All programs are open to the general public and all ages are welcome. The Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort is located in downtown Las Vegas, at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and East Washington Avenue. There is a $1 museum entrance fee for visitors 13 and older, with no additional cost to attend the events.
June 7: Build Your Own Dream Catcher Keep bad dreams at bay by learning how to make your own dream catcher. Supplies will be provided by the fort. WHEN: Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to noon. June 14: Fort Settlement Day Celebrate Settlement Day, the day the first non-native permanent residents set foot in the Las Vegas valley. Activities and light refreshments will be provided. WHEN: Saturday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 21: Adobe Brick Making Demonstration Learn how to build adobe bricks just like the pioneers did, using dirt, sand, dried vegetation and water. WHEN: Saturday, June 21 from noon to 1 p.m. June 28: Children’s Activity: Petroglyphs Learn about Native American rock art. These images of the past are some of the earliest forms of human art. Each participant will have the opportunity to make their own petroglyph. WHEN: Saturday, June 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
