ELKO, Nevada…The U.S. Forest Service is hosting a job fair February 5 at their Elko office  at 2035 Last Chance Road from 4 to 8 p.m. to assist potential firefighters with submitting applications on USAjobs.gov, the source for federal jobs and employment information.

Seasonal firefighting positions are available for the 2014 fire season. Salary for these positions ranges from $10.95 to $22.50 per hour depending on experience, with a normal term of employment from June 1 through mid-September.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and at least 18 years of age.  The federal government is an equal opportunity employer, and all applicants will receive equal consideration without regard to race, color, age, sex, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, national origin, political affiliation, handicap, or other non-merit factors.

Selected applicants must complete a pre-employment drug screening and physical examination prior to appointment and are subject to random drug screening during their period of employment.  Applications for firefighting positions must be submitted using the USAJOBS website at www.usajobs.gov.

Applicants must be at least 18 and also must meet certain physical requirements.
