Public lands give us so much more than meets the eye. Not only are they great places to recreate; hunt, fish, hike, bike, and explore and provide such vast economic opportunities such as in ranching, mineral exploration and extraction, and in guiding and tourism, but they also provide a great place and opportunity to reflect. So many times I have retreated to public lands to clear my head, still my thoughts and return to my center. Many of the folks I know find a peace of mind when they spend time in wild places. I know a wonderful woman who spends as much time as possible on high mountain tops because it makes her feel close to her husband who has passed. Many veterans find healing and solace in the beautiful, tranquil settings that our public lands and wild places provide. Public lands give us so much, that's why we love celebrating our public lands every single day! September 30, 2017 is National Public Lands Day. To celebrate this we are going to share images of public lands from our archives every day in September. #welovepubliclands #publiclandsproud #publiclandowner #NPLD #basinandrangelandsofseptember
