Back on our 2008 bike tour in New Mexico we stopped and camped in a place called Dry Diamond on the edge of the Gila Wilderness (more or less, our route roughly followed the wilderness outline). That year sweet water was flowing, so we made a camp and all afternoon watched giant thunderstorms pass around us and luxuriated under a sky so immense as to swallow everything with no thought.
September 30, 2017 is National Public Lands Day. To celebrate this we are going to share images of public lands from our archives every day in September.
