This past winter we had a chance to go with friends up to Cedarville for a snow fun weekend. There is something about playing in the snow that always brings out the child in almost anyone and this day was no exception. We drove up to Fandango Pass and snowshoed out into the winter wonderland. Surprise Valley, to the east, was blanketed in a thick layer of fog while the California landscape to the west was completely clear. It made such a striking and achingly beautiful contrast. We are so lucky to have these amazing places to enjoy!
September 30, 2017 is National Public Lands Day. To celebrate this we are going to share images of public lands from our archives every day in September.
