Canoe Trips at Lahontan State Recreational Area

FALLON, Nev. - Nevada State Park staff invite the public to enjoy days full of fun, relaxation and nature at Lahontan. Canoe trips will launch from just below the Lahontan Dam and travel along the Carson River about five miles down to the Irrigation Diversion Dam. This trip is relatively flat; a great opportunity for beginners to learn the basics of canoeing. Canoes, paddles and life jackets will be provided by Nevada State Parks, but participants will need to bring sun block and drinking water. Space is limited, so please make reservations by calling 775-867-3500.

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Sunday, June 14
WHERE: 16799 Lahontan Dam Road, Fallon 89406. From Hwy 50, between Silver Springs and Leetville Junction, turn south onto Lahontan Dam Road. Continue on Lahontan Dam Road past the bridge, over the Carson River stay on the paved road to the main entrance of the park. Canoes will launch from Lahontan Dam River Camp which can be found by turning right once through the entrance to the park.
COST: The trip itself is free, but entrance into the park is $7, with a $2 discount for Nevada residents.
