Programs Highlight Red Rock Canyon and Black Rock Desert High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation

Areas
Reno - During October the Liberty Fine Art Gallery will host an exhibition featuring artwork from the Artist-in-Residence programs at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and Black Rock Desert High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area (NCA). The show, titled "Corner to Corner", will feature artwork inspired from visiting Nevada's National Conservation Lands by artists Linda Campbell, Maria Arango Diener, Myranda Bair, Stephen Chandler, and Judy Hilbish. This exhibit helps celebrate Nevada's 150th anniversary and 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act by highlighting some of the special places BLM Nevada has to share.

An opening reception will be held at the Liberty Fine Art Gallery on October 2nd, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. The gallery will also host a reception following the Wild and Scenic Film Festival (at the Nevada Museum of Art) on October 18th. Starting at 7:00 pm, festival-goers and the public are invited to bid on original artworks in a silent auction to benefit the Artist-in-Residence programs.

This was the inaugural year of the Artist-in-Residence programs at Red Rock Canyon NCA and Black Rock Desert NCA. The artists featured in this exhibition were the first to share their creative visions of two of Nevada's largest National Conservation Areas through the Bureau of Land Management's Artist-in-Residence program. This exhibition was made possible through a partnership between the Bureau of Land Management, Red Rock Canyon Interpretive Association, Friends of Black Rock / High Rock, and Great Basin Landscape Conservation Cooperative, with support from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Liberty Fine Art Gallery is located at 100 West Liberty Street, Reno, NV 89501. The gallery is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Wednesday through Sunday. For more information about the Artist-in-Residence Programs at Red Rock Canyon NCA and Black Rock Desert NCA, contact either the Red Rock Canyon Interpretive Association at 702-258-7757, or the Friends of Black Rock High Rock at 775-557-2900.
