The Bureau of Land Management, Elko District, Tuscarora Field Office’s Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed Right-of-Way (ROW) for an underground fiber optic line in Northwestern Elko County is now available for public review until March 1.
The line will be constructed, operated and maintained by Rural Telephone Company and will be constructed within existing ROWs for three state highways. The proposed line will provide enhanced telecommunication and data services to rural residents and will consist of two segments covering approximately 37 miles. The first segment would begin near Tuscarora and end near Lone Mountain Station and the second segment would run from Dinner Station to the Adobe Ranchos area. If authorized, new line construction would result in a temporary disturbance of approximately 89.5 acres of land within the 20-foot wide linear ROW.
The EA is available at on.doi.gov/elkoBLM under NEPA, Projects under National Environmental Policy Act review. Comments can be mailed to the Tuscarora Field Manager, Elko BLM, 3900 E. Idaho St., Elko, NV 89801 or by email to email@example.com.
