Winnemucca, Nev. – The Black Rock Station Visitor Center, located at 200 Transfer Rd. in Gerlach, NV, closed for the winter season Monday, November 24, 2014 and is scheduled to reopen in May 2015. “The station is a great resource for members of the local and visiting public,” said William Mack, Jr. the BLM’s Black Rock Field Office Manager. “I would love to see the public’s utilization of its services increase in the future”. During its operating season, visitors to the Black Rock Station have the opportunity to learn about the Black Rock Desert and BLM administered lands within the surrounding area(s) through interpretive panels and maps. Important safety information, as well as information on cultural, natural, and recreational opportunities is also available.
