Carson City, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will meet with the Sierra Front-Northwestern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council (RAC) two times in Nevada in 2012: June 14-15, in Carson City; and Sept. 27-28, in Winnemucca. The meetings are open to the public.

The RAC advises and makes recommendations to the BLM on the management of public lands. Discussion items will include, but are not limited to, renewable energy development and transmission, the greater sage-grouse, BLM Carson City District Resource Management Plan, wild horse and burro program, wildland fire, and recreation development plans.

Meeting times will be made public prior to each meeting. Each meeting will include a general public comment period that will be listed in the final meeting agenda that will be available two weeks prior to each meeting. Each meeting will also include a field trip on the second day.

  • June 14-15 – BLM Carson City District Office in Carson City, 5665 Morgan Mill Road
  • Sept. 27-28 – BLM Winnemucca District Office in Winnemucca, 5100 East Winnemucca Blvd.
The Federal Land Policy and Management Act directs the Secretary of the Interior to involve the public in planning and discussion of issues related to management of BLM-administered public lands. The Sierra Front-Northwestern Great Basin RAC is one of three such councils in Nevada that accommodates this community participation directive. Represented on the council are commercial and non-commercial users that include elected officials and state agencies, environmental, livestock, mining, Native American, and wild horse and burro.
